Job Description

No matter your role at EOG, you’re a business person first. And since we’re all shareholders, we think like owners. We’re entrepreneurs and innovators, not bureaucrats. Our decentralized approach means decisions are made where the work is done by collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams. By remaining humble and intellectually honest, we’ll continue to improve and stay competitive. Our culture drives EOG’s success.

EOG's Environmental Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing pro-active division-specific environmental programs to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations including air emission control and permitting, and engine testing and management. Promote environmental awareness at all levels of management and field operations.

Oversee the preparation of all required air permit applications including New Sources Review (NSR) and Title V for complex oil and gas facilities and associated operations including gas plants, compressor stations and common delivery points. Assist with state and federal (NSPS, NESHAP, MACT) regulatory compliance evaluations, monitoring and reporting.

Candidate will be adept at emission calculations, data analysis, evaluation of control technologies and associated regulatory analyses. Assist with the development and maintenance of air modeling with specific proficiency using ProMax. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in operational compliance in order to advise production operations and facility engineers regarding air permitting requirements and obligations, emission control options, facility design, and compliance documentation. Conduct periodic and routine compliance assessments, manage permits, and collaborate with stakeholders to improve environmental/air quality. Manage multiple on-going environmental projects including environmental consultants and contract environmental staff. Assist with investigation of environmentally related landowner complaints. Monitor federal, state and local regulations and potential impacts to division operations.

Attend industry trade group meetings and participate in industry regulatory development efforts. Attend and participate in field safety meetings.

Support the division by reviewing the air quality compliance of facilities (including conducting air permit reviews), and by compiling information and preparing documentation for submittal to regulatory agencies as necessary. Prepare and present updates to management and operations. Monitor federal, state and local air regulations for potential impacts to division operations while keeping up to date on new air quality regulations, and greenhouse gas emissions objectives.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Geology or related technical field, Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of oil and gas related environmental experience. Preferred 5+ years of experience in air quality management, permitting, or related fields.

  • Broad knowledge of environmental laws and regulations; emphasis on air permitting and compliance.
  • Experience with agency personnel, particularly WDEQ, NDDEQ, BLM and EPA. Tribal agency (MHA and TAT) experience preferred.
  • Certifications in air quality management or related fields can be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively and collaborate with multiple operational disciplines within the division.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Train and mentor team members as needed.
  • Travel to field offices and well sites (20% field and 10% travel).
