About the Role

A well-funded, mission-driven startup in the medical technology space is seeking a Senior Electriacl Electrical Engineer to support the development of next-generation medical devices. This position is ideal for someone passionate about building complex systems that combine cutting-edge hardware, embedded systems, and regulatory-compliant design to improve lives.

In this role, you’ll collaborate across disciplines to deliver a first-of-its-kind product, participating in everything from requirements definition to hardware bring-up and validation. This is a hands-on, high-impact opportunity to contribute to the full development lifecycle of a novel medical device.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate product-level requirements into detailed electrical design specifications
  • Design and develop embedded electrical systems that meet regulatory and performance standards
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software engineers on integrated device development
  • Develop and execute test plans for verification and validation
  • Produce documentation for electrical architecture and development workflows

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience designing low-power embedded systems
  • Expertise in one or more of the following: wireless power transfer, low-power FPGAs, high-bandwidth radio systems
  • Familiarity with medical device development standards (e.g., IEC 60601), including design controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to work on distributed teams across time zones and disciplines

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in RF system design and analysis using tools like Ansys, VNA, and spectrum analyzers
  • Experience designing and validating low-power FPGA or ASIC systems using Verilog/SystemVerilog
  • Strong knowledge of RF emissions, interference, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) principles
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and DMMs
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers (e.g., STMicro, Nordic, NXP) and communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART)
  • Skilled in Altium Designer and rapid PCB prototyping
  • Comfort with fine-pitch soldering, hardware debugging, and basic firmware development for test and validation purposes
  • Proven success in hardware bring-up, system integration, and multidisciplinary troubleshooting
